Shendi University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences is a peer-reviewed scientific journal (semi-annually) that publishes original scientific research by researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences from inside and outside the university, written in Arabic or English or the language of the specialty in which it is published, with a bilingual summary.

Publishing Rules

General Rules:

The research must not have been published anywhere else.

1- Submit a copy of the publication material, linguistically proofread (by a specialist), including pictures, figures, and diagrams, and the print size should be (A4) 24 x 14, with margin dimensions of 2 x 2 x 2 x 2, lines spaced 1.5, by sending it to the magazine’s e-mail. (ushsocialjournal@gmail.com).

2- The number of research pages must not exceed (25) printed pages, in size (14) and type (simplified Arabic) for the Arabic language, and font size (12) and type (Time New Roman) for the English language.

3- The first page includes the title of the research, preferably brief and expressive, bearing the name(s) of the author(s), address, and e-mail.

4- The research Abstract must not exceed one hundred and fifty words, provided that the summary explains the aim of the study, the methodological procedures followed, and the results and recommendations reached, with the keywords written in a minimum of 3 words.

5- In the case of tables and illustrative figures, the table must be clear and separate on a separate page, taking into account placing its title and number at the top of the page.

Documentation and references:

First: Documentation within the text: (Harvard method):

If paragraphs from the references are used without conjugation or change in them – the literal transfer from the references – the quoted text is placed between quotation marks, and after finishing writing the quoted paragraph, we follow it by writing the author’s last name, year of publication, and page number as follows: “ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ To to the following paragraphs from the references, then the quoted text is placed between the quotation marks. (Author’s last name, year of publication, page number).

In the event that the researcher quoted from the reference, but began to amend it or worked on the quotation with a conjugation, the documentation will be done in the following manner, (—————————- Quoted text——————————–). (Researcher’s last name, year of publication, page number).

In the event that there is more than one author, we rely on the form above and start with the last names of both authors or authors, and the rest of the documentation remains as it is. If the quotation is from the Internet, we work to document it in the form ???? Article writer or site owner, year of publication).

Second: Documentation in references:

If the book has one owner, the documentation is as follows:

Last name of the author or authors, name of the author or authors, year of publication, title of the book, edition or part if the reference is in more than one part, publishing house. The previous documentation system is followed with scientific articles and journals. If the reference is a website, the same documentation method as before is followed, writing the year and time of the visit.

After its initial acceptance, the material is presented to one or more arbitrators chosen by the editorial board in a confidential manner. The writer may be asked to make partial or fundamental amendments in accordance with the arbitrators’ comments before it is finally approved for publication.

In the event that the material is accepted for publication, the editorial board reserves the right to delete or reformulate some words or paragraphs in a way that suits the style of publication without prejudice to the essence of the topic.

The researcher shall be notified of the acceptance of material for publication or the apology within a month of receiving it after making the amendments requested by the referees.

The magazine reserves the right to publish the material in the appropriate issue according to the plan set by the editorial board.

Research and topics sent to the journal will not be returned or refunded, whether published or not, and the journal is not obligated to provide reasons for non-publishing.

The published material necessarily expresses the opinion of its owner(s) and not the opinion of the magazine.

ETHICAL GUIDELINES FOR EDITOR-IN-CHIEF / EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBER

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision to publish the manuscript in the journal based on peer-reviewers’ comments. It is expected that Editors during the review process should be principled, prompt, act with confidence, contribution to the final decision, acknowledge source, and stick to objectives and guidelines mentioned below:

  • 1- Editors should understand that the peer review process is confidential. The review process should not be shared with anyone outside the peer review process.
  • 2- Editors clearly understand that review process should be unbiased, and author deserves full credit for their work.
  • 3- Editor-in-Chief should discuss all matter regarding publication with the Editorial board members before making a final decision.
  • 4- Editors should automatically reject manuscript that are inappropriate or out of scope of the journal.
  • 5- Editors must investigate if they receive information that a manuscript is plagiarized, under consideration elsewhere or has already been published. If there is evidence that the manuscript has been plagiarized, under consideration elsewhere or has already been published, then the Editor-in-Chief should issue an erratum.
